We believe in youth power. We imagine a generation where young people in their large number and potential, are capacitated to become changemakers. And for us, we can only bring about sexual/gender based free generation when young people consider this as their role and responsibilities and stand as an ambassadors. In 2019, we organized the Summit by bringing together over 300 youth across the region to train them on leadership skills for change while broadening their networking and economic empowerment opportunities. We aimed at promoting their welfare and inspire them to engage in the decision systems including political positions and increase their confidence to solve social challenges.
The summit took three days in April 2019 and was launched by HE. Anthony Mavunde (The then Deputy Minister for State in the Prime Minister’s Office Responsible for Policy, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour, Employment, Youth and the Disabled) along with two MPs.
The youth discussed among others, their roles and responsibilities to end sexual and gender based violence in their communities and how possibly they could work together as youth, government and other stakeholders.
The summit invited other stakeholders including ten (10) like minded organizations, religious leaders, traditional leaders, Manyara LGAs and social institutions.
It is from this summit where the first youth resolutions were made and launched.
